A Silent Tear
A silent tear runs down her face
As she stands solid as stone
She looks at her saviors resting place
A grave standing all alone
Not a word could be heard
Except the baby’s cry
And the muffled chirp of a baby bird
Exploring the open sky
She shifts her son and kneels down
To where the coffin lay
She smells the earth and fresh wet ground
And says what she has to say
“Thank you” she mutters through sobbing gaze
For saving my child, my unborn son
You ran into the burning blaze
Not knowing I bore a little one
To raise a child, a single parent
Will have its trials and strife’s
But I’ll raise him right and make it apparent
You’re the one who saved his life.
I’ll bring him to this very stone
When he asks of his father’s resting place
I’ll show him the grave standing all alone
And a tear ran down her face
