I was looking through some of my old poems today and found this one I thought I'd share.

“That’s not living,” you said,
but living is to forget
for each passing day
takes the pain
just that much further
from the shattered heart.

I walked under the stars tonight
and wondered about life
and about living.
I am alive, I know how to live,
though you say I live a lie.
I know how to love,
that often it isn’t receiving.

The sky was clear,
stretching to infinity.
Where is my lover
I wondered,
the one who reaches
the furthest depths of me?

To let go is hard,
harder than anything
I’ve ever done before,
because I lost myself to you
and you are always with me.

In the spaces of the day
I remember and I yearn
until my body aches
beyond bearing and then
exhausted from want
it dies.

Perhaps I love you,
perhaps not,
but what does it matter
what love is
when there is what is.
And why question your is,
compare it with mine?
I have enough for two.

I dreamed of you last night,
of you and your sister,
the one I knew.
We were together,
talking and laughing.
You were smiling.

Your smile reached out
and touched me
in that fleeting moment
beyond reality
when we were together
once again at midnight.

A song straight from the heart. Read it twice before comment, I rushed it to get to the end. Then read it properly. Lost a little on V 6. Thank you for the honour.
