This is a poem about loving yourself and being proud of who you are, hope you enjoy it.

 BLACK-BY MOUNT ZINAI

WITH DARK BROWN SKIN

AND I'M NOT REALLY THIN

WITH DARK BROWN EYES

THAT SIGNIFIES

WHO AM I?

SOFT LONG DREADLOCKS FROM HERE TO HERE

PEOPLE SEE ME AND THEY STOP AND STARE

WHY? I ASK MYSELF

IS IT BECAUSE I AM NOT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE?

THICK THIGHS AND CHILD BEARING HIPS

ALSO BIG, BEAUTIFUL JUICY LIPS

WHICH LETS YOU KNOW WHERE I AM FROM

NOT JUST AN AFRICAN DESCENDENT

BUT ALSO MY BEAUTIFUL MUM

THEY HID PARTS OF OUR HISTORY, LIKE THE FACTS

AND TRY TO POISON OUR MINDS, TO STOP US RETRACING OUR TRACKS

ALL NEGATIVE THINGS SAID

SOME PEOPLE LET THE LIES GET INNA THEIR HEAD

ON THE TV, NOTHING BUT 'POOR' PEOPLE SHOWN

SO THAT WE CAN SIT BACK AND DENY OUR VERY OWN

EVEN THOUGH I AM PHYSICALLY HERE

MY SPIRIT AND MIND ARE OVER THERE

I WILL NOT LEAVE MOTHER AFRICA ALONE

AS I WAS ORIGINALLY TAKEN FROM MY BEAUTIFUL HOME

ALL THESE THINGS WILL NOT CHANGE THE WAY I FEEL AND ACT

AS I AM, AND WILL ALWAYS BE PROUD TO BE NOT URBAN, NOT BROWN BUT BLACK

You must never forget where you sprang from my beloved sister in Jah
You love runs deep for the Motherland and Jah. Never lose your connection to God, and grow stronger in your faith each day.

Love and Blessings
