Back To You
Again my moments slip away
As evening stars give way to day-
And sparkles that I wish to see
Have once again abandoned me.
It’s no-one’s fault, not even mine-
Just wishing I could see them shine.
It ends too soon with nothing here
But as I’m falling- you appear.
Mindlessly I browsed my files-
Older pictures, faded smiles-
Felt such pain and what to do?
But then- it brought me back to you.
A picture saved, a poem you wrote,
That blessed lump back in my throat-
A miracle to quench my thirst-
And every time just like the first.
The vision stops me in my tracks
With sweet surrender I relax,
And look at you, just like before-
It gives me what I’m looking for.
This feeling- it’s the precious gift-
I’m caught and feel the whole world lift
To love and dreams that have not died
Because I still have you inside.
