The Maya bird, found in the Phillipines, is a little bird and loved by the people.

Alert in slivers of light
Maya trills the
first notes of day
waking the groggy land.

Maya cautious in tall trees
scans the expansive valley.
Soft winds touch the senses
Maya soars the colbalt skies.

Maya flies
urgently
pulsating with ignited vigor
searching for a mate.

past red-tailed hawks
past preening songbirds
Maya flies, lighting skies
like a comet.
