This form is called an octogram, wich was devised by US poet, Sally Yocom. Rhyme scheme: a B a b c c b B,a b a b d d b B
Capital B designates repeated lines.
Syllable counts 8 4 8 4 8 8 8 4 in each of two stanzas. The long lines in an octogram are written in iambic tetrameter: da DUM, da DUM, da DUM, da DUM.

A caterpillar's life must be
a state of bliss,
indulging in his gluttony
for lettuces.
He's programmed to rejoice in greed,
each meal a guilt-free, healthy feed -
I might enjoy days spent like his.
A state of bliss.

Unknowing he's potentially
a chrysalis,
who'll one day wake and struggle free
in sunlight's kiss,
he doesn't fret or speculate,
waste precious days to contemplate
his role in metamorphosis.
A state of bliss.

In spite of the restrictive parameters you have conceptualized this with a certain amount of graceful intelligence. Enjoyed! r

A very appropriate description of my current state of emergence from a latent desire to become a writer. I like the octogram style and am struggling to comprehend the different styles of poetry. Kinda' late in life but have known of accomplished artists who found their hidden talent at an even later stage of life. Thanks for the stylish example of a changing state of being. ~~~ Just Jim ~~~
