Flakes aren't just one to themselves...

Softly they flutter aimlessly
mixed with others flying crazed-
They alight onto my jack pines already
drooping limb... one flake speared by a needle catching others swirling in.

Raze and cluster inch by downy inch.
Stresses my knotty fiber to its core.
All the weight, all the accumulation, tests my itchy nerve with torque and pinch.

That eerie creak I hear late at night..
means my limb has taken all it can take. That flakes aren't just one to themselves, but a cloud-bin too full..
knocked over by some angel setting off a kind of natural plight.

Heavy man… I mean the accumulation of snow upon your limbs. But softly beautiful in the distance.

The subtext for me is intriguing. But I'm aware also that it may not be what the author originally intended. One of the beauties of poetry; the subjective aspects of interpretation. For this reader: the writer created palpable imagery for what each individual endures, is capable of handling, and their eventual breaking points if life and circumstance throws too much at them. Though we are all uniquely different we are all the same and subject to the same forces as those around us. Enjoyed.

Lots of early snow flakes this year - it's gonna be a long winter!

I used to enjoy the first snow fall of the season
Watching the starter few flakes swirling aimlessly
Than return to the house wondering how deep will it in the morning be
Now I enjoy the sounds of the croaking frogs in the wetland during snowy
Season up north
Peace be with you

...and so does Nature work, try to keep that snow wherever you live, this one NJ resident does not look forward to it...-e-
