deteorating social values,
our environment neglected.
a clusterfuck of competing needs
which are the same when they're disected.

The need to live is all it is-
shelter, food and water.
And some love mixed in there too
for every son & daughter.

"Remember what matters" I'll scream out
from every roof and mountain.
I'll plant myself in a corporate courtyard
and spray consciousness out like a fountain.

I've taken a vow to run straight at
the world that I most fear,
and devotion to remembering
what really matters here.

Insert myself in disarray
as an agent for change.
For when I look at what's going on
there's a lot to rearrange.

We thoughtlessly embrace a system
and are told its how its always been.
Instead of searching our souls and hearts
for meaning from within.

Looking at the problems,
there are effects and a deeper cause.
Temporary solutions
blind us, we get lost.

Solutions don't fully lie
in what worked in the past.
We must be innovative and persistant,
and we've got to start moving fast.

Very good 'wake up...people' poem.

This is interesting- since becoming disabled after working for 12 years for a big corporation I found out that at such jobs, you are nothing but a number, but at the same time, the cynicism that is so easy to get from such a place or attitude ends up making us blind to what is out there, and that has been my biggest shock, is that more everyday people do so much to help others everyday, and make it so we do not need the government as a big teet to suck off of, yet, at the same time, there are also many more ways that the gov't does help those in need, but the worst problem is is the lack of info on it, so if one doesn't search it out, or know of the resources to get those things, we, the poor, go without. Very thought-provoking, and as Ghandi said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world," it is always the best place to start.
