I’ve learnt of life’s many oddities
Filled with roller coaster rides obscure
Often time...
Those whom we believed were friends
Invaded surreptitiously into cloistered heartaches
Obliquely encouraged private thoughts to speak
With a weighted hand,
Rested firmly upon your shoulder
Preyed artfully upon kindness offered them
Then urged you stand, and be strong!
In solace, heartaches like thunderstorms prevailed
And tears like torrential rains endured
Until their malice seeped the arid surface
And became visible like a festering cesspool
Friends of such like I’ve learnt to forgive
And pity their need to prove themselves
Amongst the elite and chosen few
I need neither glories nor diamond tiaras
No golden cloaks to enrobe my soul
For I am a spirit of shining light
From here on in my path eternally shines!
For I am a spirit of shining light
From here on in my path eternally shines!
I do love the way you end this meaningful poem, Elga. I believe that true friendship is a treasure... ...but it is rare. Thank you. Love and best wishes to you,
