With Sincere gratitude to the Vietnam Vets.

I don't have a PHD I don't own a car

My home is where I wander I sleep under a star

Scraps I eat for a meal

I don't beg and I don't steal

I proudly walk my head held high

In the country fought for Who am I?

I once was the same as you

I had a job and a family too

Then I was drafted and sent off to war

Very few questioned why or what for

When we departed everyone cheered

For us who returned everyone sneered

The country gave amnesty to those men who fled

They ended the war and built a wall for our dead

I visit my comrades their names etched on The Wall

I pray for their souls and I pray for us all

With a tear in my eye I quietly stand

If you remember this war you know who I am
