Credit for the title goes to the poet Robert Fullerton!

Twenty years of friendship.
Laughing together,
Sharing thoughts -
Combining lives.
We learned from each other,
Tried to do right.
Raised our children,
Shared holidays
tears
relatives
lunches
memories
hopes
years
Suddenly you left my life.
Was it all an illusion?
Was it my new wheelchair?
Or was it both?

It's frightening to see how a whole life together can be summarized in a few words...

It's become a cliché to say that men (some? many?) are not very brave when it comes to feelings and daily life.

Thank you for sharing,

Heartbreaking...The people that "suddenly leave your life" when you need them most are not true friends. They live on the surface of life...

If your friend cowards off from you just because of your infirmities,
then you are better off without them.
