A loving heart
is like the spreading oak
whose branches
grow ever outward
toward the heavens
to offer shade and comfort
to all those who come near
whose roots
grow ever deeper
into the earth
our mother
to absorb
and to discover
the nourishment
in the water of life
that flows through her.

A caring soul
is like the uncharted island
that shelters
the seas survivors
after the shipwreck
when all are feared lost
circling for hours
after losing their hope
and growing ever weaker
her tides pull them in
she's determined
their lives to recover.

A compassionate mind
is like the warm
and gentle breeze
that blows across
the faces of the lonely
and gives to them
precious seconds
of freedom and serenity
free of cost
only seeking to redeem
their faith
in humanity
only begging them
their lives
in love and joy
to try to rediscover.

You have created some fine similes to emphasize your theme, Pierre. Very nicely done. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and peace to you,

This is so thought out with each word tasted and rolled on the tongue before finding a home on paper. You, truthfully, were inside of your Muse here Pierre and I commend the excellent poem that was born. From Mother Nature comes living so beautifully and you've captured her very well today with your poem.
