Shades of Twilight

On the beach all was quiet

colors were beginning to caress

the darkness with pastel shades

Shadows that came with

the first tentacles of twilight

began braiding across the sand

scurrying ahead

of waves gentle hands

A soft billowing breeze

smoothing my skirt

admitting a gust to tussle the fire

capturing my thoughts

within the hypnotic flames

Tossing them aside

as sand absorbed spent dreams

of unfulfilled promises

washed clean with the tide

Trying to shake off the nostalgia

spilling into every flickering shadow

a wisp of his scent

arranged itself around me

bringing a burst of clarity

Nudging emotions aside

inhaling the peaceful night

as the sounds of contentment

lapped against the silent shore

This takes me to those warm, caressive moments where the mood and livin is easy out of doors and the day just slips away in the company of those you love. It's that time when the cerebral gives way to the sensual and often coincides with the time when talking gives way to the tactile... Yummy! :)) You take me there and back again in your softly lilting verse. xx

the spent words drizzle honey onto my imagination's pallet -- gently the breeze ushers in the sky's pink flares of clouds drifting by -- serenity invades the deepest reaches of my soul -- and I wish only to dwell in this place in this moment, for eternity -- Carole, your weave of mood and setting upon the awaiting blush of imagination is superb my dear friend -- peace and love -- Jon Michael

Take the photo, read the poem, life seem so good. Taking emotion and delving into the shadows of evening laps at the receding day. Very nice. I was there.
