A lament for all animals, including human.

Agast! Bitter at the core!
Too Much! Too Long!
Nightmares: seal pups,
round, black eyes innocent
Constant millions, anonymous, sentient
sacrificed? harvested? KILLED!
Vested interest compassion negated
humaneness sucked, spiraling down

Black holes forever void
each day cloned--Too Much! Too Long!
Gut-wrenching cries, a squeak--a roar
the masses lacking
ear, eye, heart?
Lives! how many?
Suffering! how much?
Holocast? Surely

Calloused hearts Raped minds
myopia bound
Science catapulting headlong
Publish or perish--Progress?
Always promises, hope hype
the masses claimed by the few
Science/Religion controlling
God Help Us Animals All!

Grant one prayer, God
my life traded:
Let all animals human
writhe in the pain of all animals not--
if only for a moment
Just THAT pain--
nucleus permeating, bone saturating
May THAT finally open our hearts to love all creation
