SOMEWHERE IN THE BACK OF MY MIND 02/02/95
I pulled out old pictures
Gazed at your face; memory
Took me back, to those nights
You saved your smile for me.
When I whispered your name,
You stepped to the front of my heart
From somewhere in the back of my mind.
Strawberry, long blonde hair, near,
Green eyes, playful with passion,
Light rose lips, sultry, in faint light,
First love’s blush on your face.
Yes, I still recall those tender moments,
Cradled in yesterday’s hands, l
Loosely wrapped in pink cashmere.

"You stepped to the front of my heart,
from somewhere in the back of my mind."
Ahhhhh....that is so wonderfully put!
And the last two lines...exquisite.
(I clicked on your name because one of my favorite oldies
singers is James Taylor. I'm glad I did...as I will be
keeping an eye out for your lovely poetry.) |
