These are just a few of the many poems i have written. I do hope that you enjoy... Darrel

An Angels Eyes

just a poem of beauty I don't get to write often...

Today as I walked through a forest of trees
I see an Angel with color in her eyes
Her auburn hair blew gently in the breeze
her beauty and radiance came as no surprise
She stopped and smiled softly at me
her enchanting eyes were emerald green
She turned from the forest and walked towards the sea
the most beautiful Angel I had ever seen
I walked with her along the oceans shore
where she took my hand and held it tight
I felt in my heart that I wanted more
and prayed this would go on into the night
Oh those eyes of emerald green held such allure
and brought me to a place out there near the sea
That made me know then there would be no cure
for this love that I felt from this Angel with me
Now as I sit on the beach with her held in my arms
I realize that the heavens have created this scene
She sits and she gives to me all of her charms
And now I'm holding an angel... with eyes of emerald green.

A sunsets gift

Mary and thank you for the challenge.......

Tonight I went looking for solitude
a place that I could reflect
All of the places this life has taken me too
I have found none to match this site yet
Walking along the shore of this lake
just as the sun is beginning to go down
A beautiful portrait that only God could make
a perfect mix of the trees and the sounds
The mountains are capped with snow on their peaks
the impending promise of winter to come
Gentle waters cascade down their sides towards me
somewhere far off a coyotes call sounds lonesome
The tall Spruce and the Poplar that pepper the shore
are turning color to keep up with the season
There is red and orange and green for allure
the leaves turn fast and to the eyes are so pleasing
The sun starts to set on the lake as I stare
at it's reflection dancing across the blue water
It's bright crimson color now gives off a glare
scurrying home for the night is a beaver, a deer and an otter
The sun's setting lower and is almost gone
the water ripples it's bright colors for me
If your day has been rough and extremely long
then there is no more calming, nor relaxing place to be
The beauty of a sunset going down on a crystal clear lake
so clear you can see to the bottom of the lake
Is a site to be seen, a picture your mind will take
A memory of the beautiful pictures God does paint
I hope that I have painted a portrait for you
that you could close your eyes and suddenly be there
Trust in my words for they are perfect and true
close your eyes and this poem will take you there.

My Favorite Season

To all that share this love for God's most beautiful season...

An angel kisses my cheek so very gently
Ahhhh, it is the softness of Autumns sweet touch
The air is softer and it's beauty caresses me
I truly love this season so very much
The leaves are now turning and becoming orange and light green
they swirl and play tag with my feet
little tornadoes of colors wisp by me unseen
but they are felt as they rise up higher to greet
Oak leaves crunching beneath me as I walk
a huge maple leaf falls down on my shoulder
If you listen to the leaves you can almost hear them talk
Each day their beautiful hues become bolder
Raising my nose to the air I can smell cedar burning
in the distance I see the smoke of a chimney
It's fragrance enhances the wonders of fall that I see
sniffing deeper, I feel the season start to envelop me
The water from the river that flows by a stand
of huge Poplars, their white bark and yellow leaves enchanting
Is peppered with boats made of leaves drifting slowly onto sand
There can be nothing more beautiful to me
Now orange and yellow and red and light green
God's painting a portrait for me as I smile
Of all the worlds wonders and beauties that I have seen
nothing can come near to Autumns soft gentle style
Ohhhhh, suddenly an array of the brightest of leaves
is sucked from the ground and twirled into the sky
And again I am kissed by Falls angel in a breeze
I pray God let this beautiful season slowly pass by
In it's colors and breezes and smells of a fireplace
the water moving gently and leaves falling softly to the ground
There is no season nor time that can ever replace
the season of Autumn when in all you see it surrounds
I sit by a fire now as the moon starts to rise
Huge and bright enough to light up all that I see
the whispers of leaves sounding like a lovers soft sighs
stop what you are doing and come sit with me...
Ahhhh Autumn, won't you hurry and find me......

Eye of Living Color

To my brother who gave me such a gift...

Tonight as I sit here and reflect back on life
So many images are brought back to me
From the day that I became my blind brothers eyes
I somehow knew it would be him teaching me
He taught me how to show him this world he could not see
through the flavors and the smells and the feel
Green color was the taste of green Froot Loops we would eat
The suns color was the citrus of an orange we peeled
Red was the apple I placed in his hand
though his eyes could not see he could taste
through the fruits of this earth he began to understand
I would not allow his blindness to be a crutch or a waste
As we grew up together learning to see
we both learned how to see from each other
He learned how delicious this world could be
I learned to see in Living Color
In all of the years that his hand held my shoulder
never once did I feel any burden
As time passed too quickly and he and I grew older
I knew God had blessed me over and over again
My shoulder now feels naked where his hand once held
I was his eyes and he truly was mine
I will remember for ever each time this story I tell
That God trusted me to be my blind brothers eyes
I thank him each night as I drift off to sleep
For the chance to be blessed like no other
For through my brothers blind eyes I learned how to see
This beautiful world of ours "In Living Color."

Author's Comments:
"My brothers hand was placed on my shoulder when I was 7 years old. From that moment on I had to learn how to describe our world so that he had something to relate it too. What a beautiful, heaven sent blessing that truly was. I learned to describe and write with passion and great description."

My Choice

To every person that drives this first...

It seemed unclear for me to see just where I must be,
I knew by the flames and the heat it wasn't a good place to be,
Listening to the silent loudness, I heard no echo down deep in my head,
it uttered no sound not even a word,
only the voice of death could be heard,
I went back to a moment ago when I slipped behind the wheel of my car,
inserting the key to make my car go to a place a drink any bar,
So drunk I recall nothing but the sound of a little girls screams,
I turned the wheel as she screamed "Daddy save me, save me please,
Her cries stop, the people come knowing that I took her life,
she will never be a grown-up, a lover and never be any mans wife,
I made the choice to drive drunk and caused a little girls death,
I opened the car door and ran, ready to take my last breath,
All of my sorrows and tears will never give back the years I took,
from the child, from her family and friends, a life so precious and dear,
As I relive it again I realize death will be better than life,
the second of time I took to decide to get into my car drunk and drive,
Is the second of time that she might not have died,
if I had called a friend...she'd be alive.
