Night weeps black
across a tearstained sky
with words that slide along the
sharpened edge
of a double sided sword
penetrating walls,
like poltergeists,
to pierce my sleep
with shards as sharp as nails
and place a few more spikes
into the coffin
that once entombed my heart

And in the morning
the sugar coated lines Iím fed
leave a bitter taste
as they trickle down my throat
but all thatís left is just a shell,
like a clam thatís lost its pearl
in the tempest,
and so it matters not
for the pawns have all been played,
and leaving just a shadow
of her former self,
the queen
has left the game.

That's really something, as we say. It's an impressive work, haunting, down to the core.

Good write. The queen left the game...did she really want to? Love is truly not a game but as it is written,"love yourself as I have loved you..."- think about that! Provoking good write! Create the release; you'd be suprised you're not alone.

Peace&Grace,

When all is said and done, and love was not in the game, Time to end the charade and mend a heart for another day.

Striking write with shifting thoughts co-joined by the common theme, love can be like a game that as each player positions for the best advantage for their own heart. Great write.
