Mid August sunrise.
Dew beads on the birchwood
deck where I sit,
pen and journal ready.

The rusty brakes of a
green waste management truck,
starting its 5:30am collection route.
Lechate pools under
Trash cans.

A tricked out Tacoma drives by
Full of twenty-something men,
blasting "Gasolina" as though
last night's bar crawl just started.

Words like orange
Oak leaves,
2 months away from
on my page.

You do have a way with words. And as a former Scranton lad myself your name rings a bell. Perhaps your dad or some older relative went to Scranton Prep? I know the name but getting old has its drawbacks. I lived there before Marywood went co-ed. Anyway, hope you visit my site as my first two fictional memoir novels centered around our old hometown.

Now this is what I want to think about when I sit down to write.
Well done.

I sometimes wonder how the poet imagines such beauty and imagery when we must needs live in the world about us, stark, beautiful, noisy and still, seeping the past and masking the future. Well done, c.patrick durkin.

Sometimes when you think you can wake up early to do some writing, and then got disturbed by the unexpected...

Well-expressed imageries!
