Concrete Tears

Concrete Tears

Years of built of pain-
Hidden from those held close.
Tattered emotions covered with a perfect smile-
Living in pretend happiness-yet that hurt remains.
It will be released in secrecy-
For no one need know the real me.

These concrete tears,
Are wearing me down.
When they fall, it's an explosive sound.
Oh these concrete tears,
Come when no one's around.
It's then, that my inner pain abounds-
And then flow those concrete tears.

When the tears stop, and I've gotten my emotions back in check,
That artificial smile will reappear as if nothing was ever wrong.
Long ago I learned not to cry out-
So expressionless I've remained.
Merely going through the emotions of daily living-
Smiling, while silently crying inside.

These concrete tears,
Are wearing me down.
When they fall, it's an explosive sound.
Oh these concrete tears,
Come when no one's around.
It's then, that my inner pain abounds-
And then flow those concrete tears.

Each tear drop releases a little more of the past-
With hopeful wishes that someday, that smile will last.
A day with no more of those concrete tears, weighing down my soul-
And real happiness to uplift my spirit.
So, I'll keep silently hiding in the corners, to cry-
Until the day, when I'm strong enough to fly.

These concrete tears,
Are wearing me down.
When they fall, it's an explosive sound.
Oh these concrete tears,
Come when no one's around.
It's then, that my inner pain abounds-
And then flow those concrete tears.
