The Places I’ve lived
I used to live
where wildfire spread open
see the flicker of an open flame
justifying a certain something
Lived where mind pulls a trigger
bullets spread like wildfire
I grew into it
Sometimes
day grows a wrinkle
on its raised but softened brow
squeeze this pulse tighter
I am still alive
Cop car drifts
by the open window
who fucked up
in light of one small rebellion
had a few unspoken truths
I’d like to talk about
Used to live in arms of love
a two-dollar whore pinned
down on Broadway
I’d rather forget
Lived with a bleeding woman
blood drops turned to stone
dropped with fury
into a forgotten place
Lived on just a few coins
until I grew a face
one pale and complex
with just the eyes peering out
like in the movies
this is what its like to pretend
Sometimes the weight of all things living
seems a little heavy
for one small world
but I grow into it
somehow it is okay to dream a little lie
These are the places I’ve lived
alongside jagged truth
and perfect lies
a corner of paradise
that can tell you
how many expressions
are in my wind
