SPRING is . . . just around the corner

Just when Winter

dragged his tail

through half-open cellar door,

Reluctant to come in and

rest on cozy hearth-warmed floor . . .

Too tired to be playful,

lest Spring would win the game,

He hissed

and spat out sleet and snow,

then added freezing rain.

Just when Springtime,

from her corner,

pointed satin-slippered toes,

and waved her gold-flecked sun rays

at his red, drippy nose . . .

Too gleeful to act coyly,

she pounced on him with joy!

She twirled old Winter by his tail

and whupped that nasty boy!

Winner and Still Champion – Spring!

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.  (Genesis 8:22 KJV)

While winter tries to hang on, spring always gets the upper hand eventually. Beautifully expressed, especially with that last line.

I don't know. Winter is going into the 15th round, and still going strong here.

A delightful tribute to spring, Connie. Thank you for sharing it. We've had no winter to speak of here for at least two years now; there's little snow on the mountains. Love and blessings to you,

Regis
