sigh...

Depression

push

heave

snow

a low in the landscape of my mind

makes my shoulders groan

rusty hinges

shooting dirty orange pain

to my brain stem

that threatens to shatter in the arctic cold

push

heave

wind

pinches at my bare skin

slaps and punches

burns

grabs the sharp white grains

and laughs in my ruddy face

by drifting back to where I have already been

push

heave

sun

coming only in iotas

teases the icy edges of my mood

my left foot begs to be stabbed

and bleed reason

for not needing to go on

in this endless blinding winter

push

heave

Powerful in it's intensity. This one of the best descriptions of the "black dog" I have ever read! Please post again...Lin

Wow, your imagery of this disease is amazing put. I have suffered with Manic Depression for over 6 years now. I have wrote so many poems about this disease and how it effects myself and everyone around me.
I just feel the pain in your words--honestly I do.
