Thoughts of you is a poem that describes the way I felt about a man I was involved with a very long time ago. We were apart a lot from the very beginning, but the miles that separated us physically, didn’t come between the feelings we shared.

How do I describe what you are to me?
The love is raw and deep.
Sometimes it takes a hold of me,
So tight I cannot sleep.
I think of you and I begin to dream,
About the love we share.
It’s hard sometimes to think of you,
Because you are not here.
You’re the star in my darkest sky,
Your love light shines so bright.
I feel it all throughout my day,
And wrap it around me at night.
I breathe because you are alive,
And the biggest part of my heart.
I knew the moment that we met,
My life would somehow start.
I don’t know if it’s the way you looked,
Or how you looked at me.
All I know is that it capture my soul,
And now my heart can see.
It’s been so hard since you’ve been gone,
The dreams are fleeting now.
I struggle to remember your smile,
Sometimes I don’t know how.
Love has good points, and love has bad,
At times they get confused.
When lonely times happen to me,
My heart feels battered and bruised.
That’s when I grab hold of the love,
We have always shared.
And it becomes my life’s raft,
It feels just like you’re here.
I love you.
