This is a poem written over 10 years ago. It was inspired by the teachings of my pastor on realizing guilt and the spiritual convictions that we should have as Christians.

What is this? That won’t let me rest in peace?

A feeling of guilt, dishonesty or betrayal?

I have done no one any harm…

I have caused no one strife;

I just want to move on, get about with my life.

I want to be free…remove these shackles from my feet,

I want to be free…to rest in sweet peace.

Forgetting about the troubles of the world, all my trials and my sorrows,

I want to move on and have hope for tomorrow.

But what is this? That just won’t let me rest in peace?

I am sorry my brother if I said a harsh word today,

I am sorry my sister, if you said “no” and I “yes” anyway.

Forgive me from on high, if I have forgotten whose I am,

For I am merely a speckle, a filthy rag, a mortal man.

So now I feel peace, I fell rest and I can sleep;

For I am forgiven from on high with a promise to keep.

Feeling like that going through me tonight right now. I have no peace and it is bedtime. Crying over a move I plan to make in the nearest future and neither wanting to leave my home here behind. I thought I would be happy with a smaller place to live and I might be but fears and crying are here tonight. I did ask God to be with me and lead me and show me his way in my life. So that should help.

What a beautiful inspiration writing to read this morning. Yes, once we accept our Lord & Savior, a peace flows through our soul. Thanks for sharing.
