The tears are warm
As they fall gently on my hand
I stare at your face in wonder
My own face a mixture of confusion and hurt
I ask myself one question
That keeps rolling around in my head
Why?
Did you mean to break my heart?
Was what you did purposeful and vengeful?
I'm confused
And hardly daring to believe this is happening
All that is left of my heart is an empty hole
I gave it to you long ago
And when you left you took it with you
I wouldn't have needed it anyway
Without you my heart is stone
I don't want to use it on anyone except you
Even now
Though I'd like to hurt you back
In the same way that you hurt me
But I never could because I love you
Now and always
I don't want you suffering as much as I am right now
All I can do is dream and hope and wish
That you'll come back
But you never will, will you?
You've left me for good
You've taken my heart and my love and run
Far, far away from me and the comfort of my arms
You obviously didn't need the comfort and love
I provided for you
As long as you live, don't ever forget me
Don't ever forget the love we once had
Because that love will live forever and never die
I'll carry it with me in what's left of my heart
It will be long before this flame for you
Burns out and dies away...

Such disillusionment and dispair dripping off the pages of this piece. Crafted so eloquently......

Be safe,
