The Gift That's Been Left Behind~
by Victoria Taylor Murray

Saturday, August 30, 2003
Rated "G" by the Author.

This poem is dedicated to anyone who has lost a loved one...

~ It's funny how through life things change, sometimes taking our loved ones away, but still in life a gift is left to helps us ease the pain, memories of a loved one and how we loved them so, memories that are ours forever a gift we never have to let go, close your eyes and see them the mind's eye is a wonderful thing, the face, the eyes, the smile, and all the joy that memory can bring, and at times you might feel their presence, perhaps the gentleness of their touch, and if you're really quiet you might hear them whisper, "I'll forever love you so very much, " so please don't weep with sorrow tomorrow is promised to no one, just hold on tight with all your might, to the gift that's been left behind ~

The joys of laughter and the smiles mine left behind are remembered forever. So true is your write this time. Mine came back as a beautiful blue and black butterfly with white dots. My sister in law's daughter in law's comes back on his son's shoulder each spring and lands there. Believe butterflies are their spirits.

Your pen, thou doth wield, like Da Vinci a brush. You blend words into colors, so rich and so plush. The images you paint are pleasingly real, thus the verses you pen, I can see, and can feel. It’s quite plain to see, talented poet and scribe, alas
what you write, in my mind comes alive.

Hello My Beautiful Victoria,

I do believe that we can all relate to this. It reminds me of Barbara Streisands: The Way We Were

Memories light the corner of my mind.
Misty water color memories
Of the way we were.
Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind,
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were.
Can it be that it was all so simple then,
Or has time rewritten every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again,
Tell me? would we? could we?
Memories may be beautiful and yet,
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget.
So it's the laughter
We will remember,
Whenever we remember
The way we were;
The way we were.

Lots of Love, Janny xoxoxo

Flows on gently like a calming zephyr and achieves a universality of tone through the use of simple, evcative and insprational language. Works on levels of both emotion and intellect to articukate its theme effectively and without a trace of excessive sentimentality. Well done, Victoria.
