Oh Puppy at Dawn

With a great yawn and puppy ear flop
She greets the day
And tumbles softly from her nested couch
To lick my coffee stumbling toes

She wanders out as I smoke
To explore the bumblebees and aphids
Toiling on the spring fresh blooms
Of red and yellow roses

She tests the air at every breeze
Her aromatic radar measuring
What’s new in the neighborhood
And friends she might go find
