Why would you offer a drowning woman a lifeline
then turn around and walk away
never again to look back?

Why would you, after learning she survived,
criticize her and cause her
to wish to God she had died?

The lifeline she needed was friendship
plain and simple
but after raising her hopes
just enough to matter

Why would you
-- why did you --
cause her so much damage?

Very heartfelt write. I could feel the pain between the words.

Life and people are a mystery that none of us can profess to understand. Some live to hurt and others hurt to live. Stay strong my friend and God Bless.

Sometimes, there is no understanding why people act as they do. One wonders if they actually have a conscience. Your verse "spoke" to me, Sharon. Thank you. Love and peace to you,
