Hell or High Water

I wrote this poem before Parting Ways, during a period of deep depression from which I have sinced resurfaced.

Hell or High Water?

Sitting in the darkness
My mind is not at ease
This story's nothing new
So bear with me if you please.

The morning sun is rising
The light it filters through
I must go and close the blinds
So I can share my thoughts with you.

My friends don't understand me
My family's confused as well
The daily torment I endure
Is like liviing in a shell.

There's no hope within my bottle
Just a messsage that's quite clear
Swallow me deep inside you
Is all I seem to hear.

Forget about your loved ones
You need me to survive
I'm the only friend you need
I'll make you feel alive.

The black water lies below me
As I take my final drink
I leap towards the darkness
Not knowing what to think.

The cursed light is back again
There's confusion everywhere
Strapped down to a gurney
Where I am I do not care.

One of two things is certain
Which one I do not know
But was the river deep
Or was that bridge too low?

Thanks for sharing this piece. I know all too well where you've been. I also know how it feels to swim away from the depression and to dance on land.

Keep your head up and keep on writing.

Oooh, you've penned this one well...this is a sad state of depression, but thank goodness God wasn't ready for your life to end. I know a few who didn't get this opportunity and thought thought that death would end their suffering this is the saddest of all.
Blessings,
