Perfect is written from a woman’s standpoint of how a man thinks that life is just wonderful because he makes plenty of money and lives in his big fancy house and expects the glamorous life to make his woman happy.

Flawless I was

Your definition of perfect

The perfect body

The perfect face

The perfect number of inches

Around my waist.

The perfect woman

To flaunt around

To restaurant after restaurant

All around town.

The perfect woman to buy rings

Gold, silver, pearls

All of those things.

The perfect woman

You lace with kisses

The perfect woman

Who worked like a slave

Scrubbing floors, washing dishes.

Day after day, running your errands

The perfect woman who signed a prenupt

So I will receive nothing you inherited

I'm that woman, that perfect woman

And I thought you were that perfect man.

Actually, you consider yourself the perfect man

Striving to make your mill

And didn't care whom you stepped on

To get to the top of the hill.

Perfection equaled money

And money equals you

Even more important

Than I am to you.

You spend all of your time making more

All I see of you is your back, heading out the door

But I'm your perfect woman.

The perfect woman who smiles in front of your friends

The perfect woman whose life has yet to begin

Because I'm too busy helping you live yours

Passing up open doors

For your sake

But I'm your perfect woman

And you think everything is great.

Great because you perceive it to be

You think I'm happy because

You buy expensive jewelry

But when I want to spend time with you

It's always, "Honey, I have something else to do".

But I'm your perfect woman

Spending my time playing tennis

With your friend's uppity wives

Listening to stories of their good-for-nothing lives

Joke after joke, I smile, but it's not even funny

I can tell by their appearance, that they're all about the money

But I'm your perfect woman

And you send me to hang out with a bunch of dummies

Who would probably eat platefuls of money,

If it was an appetizer

It's a good thing your attitude has made me wiser

Here is what perfect means to me:

Perfect to me

Is a silly grin

At absolutely nothing.

Perfect to me

Is when you make ugly faces

Or do something funny in public.

Perfect is when we actually hold hands when we walk

Perfect is when we keep eye contact when we talk

Perfect is when we eat candy apples and lick each other's fingers

Perfect is when we talk things through, refusing to let arguments linger

Perfect is when we do things spur of the moment,

Without it having to be planned a year in advance

Perfect is when you say you love me

Anytime you get the chance

Perfect is not having to look like a princess when I wake up

Perfect is doing activities with you that does not require me wearing make-up

Perfect is the arguing, perfect are the fights

Perfect is you actually lying beside me in bed tonight

Perfect is having dinner that's not catered

Perfect is eating in restaurants with no waiters

Perfect is taking normal vacations, not nights in Paris

Perfect is me gaining two pounds and not having to feel embarrassed

If your definition of perfect is the same as mine

Then yes I am perfect from the descriptions above, every line

But I'm your perfect woman

Or at least that is what you want me to be

Perfect by your terms, and not what counts to me

I never said I needed money to be happy

I never used to wear weave, until you told me my hair was nappy

Never said I needed to be wined and dined

In order to feel fine

Never said I needed manicures and facials

In order to feel grateful

But I'm your perfect woman

No, I'm my perfect woman

I'm the perfect woman

The woman I always wanted to be

Instead of your

Misconstrue d

Made up fantasy.

Leave me alone

Just let me be

This is incredibly powerful. Really well done. There's a lot of pain here. But, more importantly, there's much personal insight and strength. I don't know if this is about you, or not, but I hope MANY women read it and find liberation. Wonderful write. JD
