Dark clouds dance
Through winter's blue sky
Gentle rain washes window panes
To splash the soil
Darting sparrows babble a warning
No time now for prize fights in the garden
Gulls screech and circle overhead
Eyes piercing the empty, sandy shore
Premonition guiding them inland

As brooding sky darkens
Galloping horses is imagery seen
And heard, as beginning thunder roars
Lightning cracks through dirty grey
Torrential rain churns earth to mud
Trees bow and bend, cringing Uriah Heaps'
To wind's mighty strength
Until, it seems, the enraged guts of it
Will blow itself apart!

But thunder passes
Rain ceases
Slowly, wearily Wind lowers itself
Playfully blowing a few dead leaves
Storm's tantrum is over
