The rush of action unfolding,
Or heat of pursuit and danger,
The cliff-hanging suspense,
Or tender moment of gentle kiss.

Guns blazing from friend and foe alike,
Rescue balancing on the twist of fate,
Captive heart beats in anticipation,
Hero arrives in the nick of time.

Words travel on paper with ratta-tat-tat pacing,
Pictures painted in sweat and blood,
Swords crossed in sparks asunder,
Her touch caresses the stirring soul.

Come away with me if you dare,
To far off fields of honor,
Where battles rage and flags unfurl,
Grab hold of love’s embrace.

Under moonlit skies we sail to distant lands,
In back alleys drama and intrigue uncovered,
We find shelter among the palms of a desert oasis,
Or back-to-back fight off pirates, buccaneers, or brigands.

Take my hand and dance with me beneath the chandelier,
Raise your glass and toast free spirits unleashed,
‘Tis true that this be but fantasy and fiction,
Yet the passion and love and desire are so real.

Across the yardarm I swing to thee,
Grapple and tussle with all that seek to harm,
High noon gunfighter ready to draw,
Fingers pound out action on the defenseless keyboard.

However, when all is said and done,
I can only manipulate the characters I create,
For if you do not wish to participate,
I am alone on a desolate page of symbols.

The author dreams with prose to entertain,
Wishing the imagination would come true somehow,
Then just before “The End” would come,
Velvet moist lips to deliver a marvelous close.

I remain loyal and dedicated and true to you,
Words delivered to repeat a message deeply felt,
Actions speak louder than words is the case,
Which dragon must I slay to convince you?
