A poem about office romance taken from The Fast Still Life

Soft Lines

Black and silver beaded sequins

Enhancing each curve as

The incandescence shines

A mysterious glow

Of tempting thoughts

That need

Some double stitches of consideration.

Friendship

Is the main goal of

A working relationship

That was born from the management

Of a retail persuasion.

But the dress seems

To outshine those prudent thoughts.

It's teasing me into wonderment

Of a journey I might

Want to thread up.

I keep finding myself pondering

A way to guide my hands

Across that material

To form a pattern of passion

Between the two of us.

After all, office romance

Is not out of fashion.

Funny how small things can capture the heart. Well penned, softly sensual.

Having experienced one, George is right. However, in a large department like I was in, there was more than one successful marriage that came out of what seemed like an unlikely connection between staff members in different areas of the department. When it involves a supervisor It can be a bit more sticky.

Your poem gives food for thought.
