' ... who cried out, 'Not again' ... '

(Image © 2013, Karla Dorman, cropped and copyright added.)

Not just every Oklahoman has a
broken heart, but everyone who
saw the devastation unfolding
on their TV sets, who cried out,

'Not again' when they watched
that MONSTER go into the City,
on almost the exact same path
as the Big One 14 years ago

does, too. We feel the pain of
loss, even though we weren't
there. Can't imagine reliving
it once more. Once was

enough. But every time that
disaster and tragedy tries to
bring you to your knees,
you stand Oklahoma proud.

What it means to be family:
you are there when we need
help, a strong back, arms
ready to help us to our feet.

Just like the song says: 'You're
doing fine, Oklahoma, Oklahoma,
okay!' No, would venture, better
than, because of who you are.

A beautiful caring, feeling poem, Karla. I'm sure they feel your prayers among the many.

It's not a question of “not again.” It's a question of when. I know the odds are very small, but Oklahoma has it all. A vast plain where storms can grow, with nothing to stop them as they go. To be okay and the OK state, got to understand that if you act too late, the wind may catch you and bring you down, but you still can get back up just like Moore town. One more time.

That's what makes them strong. They choose to live there in spite of the danger that is always at their doorstep. The same goes for the east coast residents during hurricane season. There is danger everywhere.
