Learned Helplessness: A psychological model of depression in which exposure to a series of unforeseen adverse situations gives rise to a sense of helplessness or an inability to cope with or devise ways to escape such situations, even when escape is possible.
Q: Do you really care about your health?
Dietary Carelessness represents a person’s inability to connect dietary habits and/or rituals with subsequent nutritional status (i.e., failure). Some folks eat what they want to eat, when they want to eat it. No matter what!!! It’s simple…they don’t care. We some how have socialized our feelings/decisions to ignore good food choices and/or judgment. Thus, we over-consume on both, good (i.e., organic) and bad foods (i.e., processed products). Yeah…that’s crazy! Right?
Note: By the year 2015, 75% of Americans will be overweight and obese.
Whether you like it or not, you make food choices based on your cultural, ethnic, religious, societal, and social experiences.
Key Point:
Devise a way to escape such situation(s), especially when escape is possible!
You need to work hard (i.e., don’t wait until the last minute to study) and get the job done (i.e., develop a process, plan, or protocol to help you succeed).
If your dietary intake is not related to achievement, then most likely you will not retain these lessons learned.
In addition, plan ahead before you “go shaking your (fill in the blank) at some (fill in the blank) Moon!”
Tip: Whose responsibility is it for your nutritional performance/achievement? Yours...(fill in the Blank)! lol.
What to look out for:
Most Americans are bombarded with food commercials from consumer groups, food producers and manufactures, radio, television, and sales marketing companies. We receive hours and hours of information yearly about consumerism. All of this information is stamped in our subconscious mind.
So learn how to tune-out the noise...it’s your health.
Warm Regards,
Dr. O.
