Hi Alonda! I READ "Light-skin brother Out of Style". Found it to be a very poignant piece of writing. I am not a person of color perse, but am a member of a minority group called "Metis"(pronounced,May-tee)Sometimes refered to as "Half-breeds". Wishing you the best of luck!

| Alonda, you expressed yourself so well in this poem. At 73 I can still hear, see, and feel what you saying. But, we are all brothers and sisters in God's sight. May God Bless you. Betty. Mother of the Universe. |

| That's an interesting take. It tells me that we can pinpoint the so-called "decline" of society to any event we wish. (And, of course, each generation has its own version of when we fell and how far and how better our generaiton is than the next...but my ignorant white ass never thought to factor in subjective racial biases as well. That's really an interesting twist.) I'm still not sold on the very last rhyme though. |
