Caroline Nderitu

Do you hear that?
That is the sound of a bee
A busy buzzing bee

Something a bee always is

Shh! Listen
Do you hear that?
That is the sound of safari ants
Safari ants at work
Something safari ants are always at

What do you think of yourself
When you think of yourself
If you do think of yourself

Do you think of yourself as a star in the sky
with your portion of night
that you ought to keep bright
Or do you think of yourself as a cloud
That is tossed and lost in the wind
Every wind

Do you think of yourself as a giraffe
with your sights on high

Enormous vision, gigantic ambition
Or do you think of yourself as the sand
The beach cover
For everyone can to tread over

Do you think of yourself as a lion
brave and enduring

ready to hunt and win
Or do you think of yourself as a vulture,
Others do the catching

You do is the watching

Do you think of yourself as a good car engine
Always ready to start and never going flat
Or do you think of yourself as a rainbow
Out there, colorful, beautiful… woolala!
But only lasting for a season

What do you think of yourself
When you think of yourself
Because I know you do think of yourself

The cloud was made

To be tossed about
The sand to be trodden upon
The rainbow to last just for a season

The vulture was made to be just  that

A vulture

To sit back and wait

It can’t help it- it’s a vulture!

BUT not you!

You were made to be a giraffe

To stand tall and take your place

You were meant to be a lion

To roar till the world acknowledges

You were meant to run on a good engine

Always going, never slowing
You were made to be a star
in this world…

There’s a portion of night

That only you can light

Out- shine

When you have really shone

Just …

Shine again!
