Above is my mommy's photo. taken in 2004, 2 years before she passed away.

Every year around the month of May, it would always sadden me a bit, because this month would always make me think of my mother and how much I'm still missing her. I can still remember how nice it had been to wake up on Mothers' Day to call her on the phone, and then take her out to a special Mother's Day luncheon, and then we would spend the whole day with her and my daddy. In the evening, my daddy would take the whole bunch of us out to dinner. Daddy was like a hunter for good food, he would always know where all the good food are, and which restaurant offers the best price for the best food. Mother's Day was always a wonderful day when my mom and dad were still alive with us.

Mom left us on December 16, 2006 due to cancer. After mommy is gone, I realize how much I have missed those events. I wish I could go back in time and still would have my mommy and daddy with me so I could still do things, write stories to make them proud of me!

This poem is dedicated to my mother. I wrote this poem a couple of years after mom's passing, The Little Brown Jacket had made me think so much of my mother, I wish I could put the brown jacket on her...

The Little Brown Jacket

I've bought a little brown jacket several days ago.

It is a beautiful little jacket! It has simulated fur inside, and on the outside it seems to be made of suede material. However, I know it couldn’t have been suede because the whole outer layer of the jacket is imprinted with beautiful glittering butterflies, highlighting this little brown jacket, making it look very lovely and so full of life.

When I picked up this jacket in the store to try it on, my mind immediately had drifted off to thinking about my mother. I kept thinking about how good this jacket would look on her, if only she was still alive to wear this jacket. Mommy had always liked wearing brown colour, because she had always looked best in it.

My mother had always looked very beautiful in her younger days. I was told that many photographers used to follow her in the streets. They would follow her wherever she goes and would request to take her photographs to fill the magazines covers. I would look at my mom's photos. quite often from her younger days, and then would wonder why I don't look as good and as beautiful as she was.

The jacket was of my size, so it fitted me very well. I paid for it and brought it home with me. I then held it up in front of my mom's photo. to show it to her, and I told her what a beautiful jacket it was that I have bought, and I also told her that if only she was still here with me I would have bought her the jacket too to wear. I know she would be thrilled too to have a little brown jacket!!

Sweet and touching and. . so y o u, Sandie. It was very creative of you -- not that there is anything surprising about that -- to use the jacket the way you did. Love the idea! As for your mother's beauty, the apple fell close to the tree!! Love the photo on your bio page right now. Know you miss your mom a lot. I feel for you. But you and she are never really apart. The way you write about her proves it, as far as I am concerned. That and your beautiful smile. Peace and Love Forevermore, 'Pea'
