This was written for my sweetheart, and it was also an entry in a contest.
My Care-bear
She’s so tender hearted
I swear
She needs caressed and finessed
But I don’t mind
I guess she thinks that’s why I’m there
While I faintly tremble fingers
Through slightly tangled hair
And I suppose that’s one reason-
It’s a simple moment we both share
To attest
That we both care
Which is important of course
I’ve loved before
That’s no secret
But I don’t mind
Really
She serenades me with poetry
Every time she speaks
That fond, frail, fragile voice.
It takes me to a quiet rock
Overlooking miles of peaceful streams,
Cliffy walls, and grand ever-greenery
Such charming scenery
Tears well up sometimes
But I don’t mind
I just hope she sees in me what I see in her
Although I can’t believe how she ever could
Or that she ever should
Since I could never be that beautiful inside.
