Just Like Coffee is a poem I wrote circa 12/2003. Enjoy.

Just like coffee
By Nikki G

Just like coffee, I need you in the morn
I think of your smile, those cocoa eyes
its on
When I see you, I barely can contain
Iím feeling your method cuz
man, u bring da pain.
Rich in knowledge, a diamond in the ruff
Iím caught up in the rapture
I just canít get enough.

Just like coffee, I need you in the morn
Sweet and powerful, like a quiet storm.
I hate to say it
But, boy I think its love
So fresh, so clean & pure just like those doves
That Prince would sing about
Back in the day.
I havenít been the same
Since the day u looked my way.

Just like coffee, I need you in the morn
Iím craving your flavor in the early dawn.
The words you speak to me, the wisdom that you share
electrifies me and 2 UÖnutthiní can compare
Iím falling deeper, sinking in the depths
Of something narcotic and addictive at its best
Iím trying to shake it Ďcause
Boy, I just canít be
sprung like Jerry and whippedÖso easily.

Just like coffee, I need you in the morn.
Your lure has snagged me; Iím in the danger zone.
Iíve decided to give in the battle has been lost
Iím willing to follow you at whatever cost
Over, under & thru whatever comes our way
A kingís true companionÖ
Your queen now and forever and a day.

A powerful message delivered with great sensory delight.

But the woman in this poem is in emotional hot water and bound to get burned. Addictive love is omnipotent and all-consuming. Soon our dear lady will feel the tragedy of empty mug and used coffee grounds. "I'm willing to follow you at whatever cost" is a recipe for suicide.

But to crave someone is a high with no equal. And when you feel, "But, boy I think it's love," ya don't know nothin' 'bout how it's gonna get. Most "cravers" like to think they can sit back for a month or so and see, when they need to sit back for a year or so.

What we've got going in these verses is lust, pure and simple. Recognize it. It's okay so long as you're not deceived. While lust may not have the staying power of love, its intense "rush" is one of the joyful but sometimes regretable experiences of life.

By the way, NikkiNicole, when I'm free and if you're still available, my preference is French Roast early in the morn.

Yours 'til the next posting,
