I Told God
By S. Joan Popek
I told God to remove my burdens,
and...He did.
But, I was too busy shouldering to notice.
I told God to take my pain away,
and...He did.
But, I was too busy hurting to notice.
I told God to make my life easier,
and...He did.
But, I was too busy working to notice.
I told God that if he wasn't going to listen,
to just leave me alone,
and...He did.
But, this time, I noticed.
