People pounding on my door

Politicians, realtors

“Sell your home” and “Vote for Me”

I won’t do either, don’t you see?

If I’m at home, throughout the day

It means I’m working, can’t come play

I’m under deadline, must concentrate

To talk to you will make me late

It causes stress,

But I digress…

When you knock, and my dogs bark

The cats all run, my mind grows dark

I have to stop, see what you want

It interrupts my writing jaunt

It’s dangerous in this age and day

To open doors – becoming prey

Even with my giant dogs

Even with my scary “Cog”

People pounding on my door

Stop pounding, disperse – come round no more

I ask you all to just desist

Or next time you will see me pissed!

The smartest thing i ever did was to have and electronic lock which needs a code to open the front door, no intercom, no chimes, not knockers, just a wonderful silence.
Now, when one of those telemarkers phone I said politely if he/she can hold just a moment and connect my phone to a 3 gigabites of horrible Muzak which will get anybody a headache. They black listed me and it has been a long time since one of those.

I never answer the door anymore - I just let my four growling dogs sit in front of it, and most of these irritating people quickly leave!
