Summer Sounds
by Louisa A Middleton-Blake

Tuesday, June 26, 2007
Not rated by the Author.

I can hear the cools summer breeze,
Whispering softly,
Through the delicate leaves
Of the Birch, the Elm,
Such elegant trees,
In Gods own Realm.

The song of the Lark
Can be heard miles away,
As he soars above meadows
Full of sweet smelling hay.

Sighing, Dipping Willows,
Curtsy in Line,
To the Ageless Babbling Brook,
Winding endlessly through time.

The Cuckoo has called his last summer song,
The sound is now faint,
I fear he's now gone.

I'm reading this as a blizzard rages outside, yet I feel all warm inside. Thanks, Louisa! :)

Hi Louisa. Great poem. Why does it not surprise me that it involves winged wonders. Jean

Hi louisa - I tried to find your site before but couldn't !
I like this poem the best - expecially the willows that 'curtsy in line'
The whole poem has a nice gentle rhythm - would of liked abit more !

Summer Sounds--a sweet, lovely poem filled with wonderful imagery. And with a touch of sadness, I read the last line. I wanted more.

Perhaps there's a bit of the thespian in you. The advice for actors and actresses is always: Leave them wanting more.

Welcome to AuthorsDen.

What a delightful "romantic age" poem. I loved it's flow. Thanks for visiting my site. I am not at AD much but I appreciate your remarks. Victor
