Santa's Helpers

This poem was a Christmas gift for the children of my best friend.

Busy elves and jammed toy shelves,
Christmas Eve was near.
There'd be no rest for anyone until that day appeared.

Something worried Santa Claus and on his beard he tugged,
"I've got to get this last task done, but who can help?" he shrugged.

Then he remembered the Peterson kid's, he knew they'd be just right
to help him with his special job before he took to flight.

"What can we do?"they asked with glee,"paint the candy canes red?
Test the toys, stuff the sleigh, see the reindeer are fed?"

There is a message," Santa smiled,"that cannot be ignored, we must tell all the world that Christmas is about the Lord.

A holy day of peace and joy, and I am but a tiny part
of the gift of love that overflows from God's generous heart."

Kelly and Eric told everyone, as far as they could see,
about the baby's stable birth and of Santa's plea:

"Remind the children everywhere
while I bring toys and fun,
on this day a miracle came,

Jesus Christ, God's Son."

this is a delightful piece of work...lovely composition and I agree with Jill below that you have illustrated quite well the true meaning of the season.

This is a beautiful reminder of the true "reason" for the Christmas season. Welcome to Author's Den, Julie. I'll look forward to reading more of your work.

All the best,
Jill
