A wrecking ball crashed through
The Sistine Chapel today.
Only it was just a shadow.
But now all the years of work,
all the beauty,
and the strong stone walls,
are a pile of rubble.

The people immediately gathered,
Ready to pick up the pieces and rebuild
For they are lost without their sanctuary.

But, absorbed in their grief
No one knew where to begin.
So they left.
Wandering about the city,
trying to make sense of it all.

If they rebuild it,
it will never be quite the same.
But it must be rebuilt!

So they gather again.
And begin to clean things up,
Stone by stone.
Knowing it will take enormous
time and energy,
to repair the damage

From a single shadow.

It's awful what a shadow can do but it usually causes the light to shine brighter.
