The Mall Walkers
by Melinda Josiah Geaumont

Wednesday, July 22, 2009
Not rated by the Author.

8:30 am and stores are yet to open

Who are the mall walkers?

Seniors by the dozens

Pacing the perimeter

Past windows

Frozen neighbors

Smiling blindly in Gap Clothing

A walking mass

Americana

Is this how far we’ve come?

The mall is our sidewalk

The mannequin our neighbor

Sharing florescent sunshine

Stale air-conditioned breezes at our back

White walking shoes

Step by step

Marching toward eternity

Hence why I go into malls as little as possible. A compelling and meaningful write, Melinda. Thank you for sharing it. Love and peace to you,
