If I put my ear
to your heart
what would I hear?
if i laid on your chest
would your breaths
tell me a story?
Would they echo
my feelings for you?
I need to know
if you feel
the same as I do
see, I breathe you in
trying not to exhale
for fear of losing you
but exhale I must
lest I lose me
so i try to breathe
a little slower
hold on a little longer
hoping that you are
also inhaling me
with each breath you intake
until we breathe in sync
as one
and i no longer
have to wonder
if your heart beats my name
because it will beat loudly
allowing us both
to breathe freely

I've felt this way.
Sadly, I found myself turning blue from holding that breath.
It always takes two, willing to give everything.
It takes everything.
