It came on very suddenly
Without any warning
I nursed her all through the night
Praying she’d still be alive in the morning
I could feel her slipping away
As she grew weaker by the hour
And I did everything I could do for her
That was in my power

There were times when I couldn’t tell
If she was still alive
She was fading into darkness
And I feared she would not survive
There was nothing I wouldn’t do for her
There was nothing I would refuse her
She never realized how much I needed her
Or that I could not bare to lose her

One moment she would be boiling hot
The other she felt like she might freeze
She had lost control of all her faculties
As she became more infected by disease
Her memory was already gone
When she lost her energy and her drive
And there wasn’t any kind of cure
Or remedy to keep her alive

Just when I thought she would recover
And had made it over the hump
She lost all her cookies
Then she took a dump
She fell deathly quiet
And she immediately turned blue
Then I realized I had just lost everything
And a man without a backup is a fool

I was alone and helpless
Feeling like an atheist in Limbo
Then it clicked that I should search for help
So I opened up a window
If she had been a dying horse
Someone would have had to shoot her
But she wasn’t a dying horse of course
She was my personal computer
