Don't Tell Me

Don't tell me what I can do,
I'll do what I want.
Don't tell me where to go,
I've been there already.
Don't tell me what I can say,
My mouth speaks my peace.
Don't tell me what I can think,
My thoughts belong to me.
I am a woman,
A fine African/Latino/American.
I've conquered horizons you've never seen,
Climbed mountains you can't imagine,
Floated on clouds you didn't know were there,
Swam in oceans too deep for whales.
If you think you know me,
Watch me transform myself,
To someone you don't know,
Can't see, Won't understand,
Haven't seen before,
Never see again,
Poised to take control, Of every thing I am.
Don't tell me what I can do,
Don't speak those words to me,
Don't be angry when I say this my brother,
I have to be who I am.

Don't tell me!

Outstanding!! A most powerful tool, inspiration, for anyone that has ever been in the rhelm of someone who "needs" to control out of their own insecurities, <my view on the "why" they must act that way.. My heart, my spirit, knows these words of yours, very well..
