The Insidious Intruder
by Barb McClatchy

Rated "G" by the Author.

Inspiration for living with chronic illness

Take what you will

You always do

But you can’t have my sanity

Steal what’s not yours

I know you will

But you can’t touch my dignity

Beat me down

And isolate me

But my legs remain mine to defy you

Pillage my senses

And leave me for dead

But my soul, my cellmate, is beyond you

A wonderful and dignified piece of work. My own nother has Ovarian Cancer and this brings to mind the dignity and pride fostered by looming death. I really enjoyed this~

Hello Barb, I read your poem,"Insidious Intruder". It was a very touching piece of writing. I found it left a positive message. With courage we can face anything. Don't worry, when you fall you will be helped up. I have type 2 Dibetes, not the the worst thing someone can have, but I somewhat know what it feels like to have something that can alter a lifestyle. Best of luck. Please feel free to visit my site here in the "Den"

Went through it with Hubby Tom Aug 17, from smoking cigarettes and too many over the years. Know just what you are explaining here. He died with dignity and peacefully though but I have a hard time with grief. Maybe you could write something on grief cause you write so beautifully.

An everyday uphill battle, but a battle that must be one. Never to give in, well written....

Yes, the truly insidious thing would be to allow it to take all that you mentioned and being unable to stop it . . .

Barb,

It can be a tough battle at times but love, prayer and fortitude will see it through.

As one who lives with illness/disability, I could easily identify with this. At times it may think it has me, but it doesn't, no, not really. I have to fight to get through every day; it's not easy, but I am stronger, much stronger than my disabilities/health problems!

Powerful reminder; thank you!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

Barb,

Excellent reminder that we may have illness, disability, but they don't have US. :) Well done!
